Your Local City is an Austin, Texas-based interactive resource and referral networking community geared toward small business marketing and promotion. Our members represent the entire spectrum of trades and professions. Retail salespeople, financial advisors, marketing specialists, home repair experts -- any kind of business owner or representative can benefit from Your Local City’s unique blend of one-to-one relationship building, open networking, sales training, and advertising and marketing resources.

CEO Tonya Hofmann first became a networking expert through her involvement with 54 different networking groups, associations, chambers and organizations. Her vast experience with networking, and her desire to help small businesses use the power of networking to achieve success, inspired Tonya and Michael Hofmann to form Your Local City.

Your Local City began as a small weekly gathering of local business owners at Smokey Mo’s Barbecue in Round Rock, Texas, in 2006. Within a matter of months, the fledging group had packed the restaurant with enthusiastic professionals who loved making new connections, exchanging lucrative referrals, and learning about marketing and self-promotion, all in a friendly, supportive environment. Multiple groups sprang up all over the Austin area…then Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio….  In the spring of 2011, Michael and Tonya sold their networking group organization to Biz Pack and Defining Women networks which is a National networking organization!

They began Your Local City in Feb. of 2005 as an online marketing and advertising vehicle to give huge online exposure for business owners everywhere.  They have also always been an IT/IS company helping businesses, business owners and professionals increase traffic to their website, grow their exposure on the Internet, utilize marketing strategies to build excitement to buy, create programs that once created continue to be a huge revenue source, develop memberships for community and business involvement and phone apps for continued exposure!  Your Local City can fulfill all your computer, programming, website and business development needs!  How convenient is that!!!

A Personal Message from the Hofmanns

We formed Your Local City for a good reason: We needed it!

When we first took our baby steps into entrepreneurship many years ago, we were just a couple of kids who bought a retail business and then had to make it work. That was our first big shock about building a thriving company -- no user’s manual!

We were on our own, and it was lonely, tough, and expensive. Advertising costs were so prohibitive that we could only afford to run tiny little ads you’d need a microscope to read. Other businesses refused to help us or partner up with us because we were the “competition.” (What was wrong with building supportive alliances and working together for our mutual success?) Even the local chambers were of little assistance, because they tended to cater to the big businesses. We little folks just disappeared into the wallpaper.

That’s why we created Your Local City. We saw a desperate need among small business owners for a community. We envisioned a central resource providing affordable yet powerful marketing options, training and education on all those points of entrepreneurship we had to learn so slowly and painfully by ourselves -- and best of all, a gathering place to learn more about each other’s needs and challenges, exchange qualified referrals, make use of each other’s products and services, and help each succeed.
